THE LORD’S PRAYER
Introduction by Larissa Amour

Coming out of the Christmas season as we face a new decade on the horizon a whole spectrum of emotions flood this very room.

For some, a new year signals exciting change, resolutions and motivation.
For some still, we come to this new horizon dragging our feet from the pressure a holiday season brings.

The horizon may seem daunting and too vast to make sense of – a whole new set of pressure loaded onto our back.

Wherever we find ourselves in these next few days, Christ has taught us time and time again that these burdens can be lightened with and through him. Jesus gave us the very words necessary to settle into a new season. To ask for forgiveness and to offer it, to rest in the assurance that who we are and what we have  today suffices, and Gods kingdom continues to flourish all around us.

As we say the Lords prayer together, think of it as one final present of the holiday season. A gift of rest - where we don’t need to come up with the perfect words, but we can still recline and converse with our unconditionally loving God. Let us pray,

Our Father,
who art in heaven,
Hallowed be thy Name.
Thy Kingdom come.
Thy will be done
On earth as it is in heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our trespasses,
As we forgive those who trespass against us.

And lead us not into temptation,
But deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom,
The power and the glory,
For ever and ever.

Amen.
