PRAY OF CONFESSION

Loving God -
To you all hearts are open -
To you, all desires known.

We ask that you would give us grace to trust your gracious posture toward us now.
Even as today we confess our weakness.
Carried in our illness and our pain.
Present in our loss, our mortality, and the sorrow of those we love.
Inescapable in the systems of this world that belittle, and constrict, and crush our hearts.

Today we confess our disintegration.
Carried in our selfishness and our preoccupation with our interests.
Present in the ways we speak hastily, we protect aggressively, and we leave good works undone constantly.
Inescapable in the systems of this world that pull and push and force us from each other.

These things we hold, even as we also confess your Kindness.
Carried by your faithful presence to us in daily blessing.
Present in our experiences of forgiveness, intimacy, and self-awareness.
Inescapable in the ways you renew and restore and enliven us through the gifts of community, nature, beauty, and friendship.

Come and be the consolation we need.
Be the strength and comfort we long for.
Shape hope in us today, we ask - in the name of Christ our Hope,
Amen.
