A PRAYER OF PENITENCE FOR ALL OF LIFE

Creator of life —
You are present to the smallest beetle,
The largest old-growth tree,
The wisest elder,
The blameless child.
You bring life where there is loss.
And so, today, we take a moment in our hearts to consider creation and the ways we deny its flourishing.

Creator of life,
Make us whole.

Christ of solidarity —
You are present in every struggle,
With those marginalized by injustice,
With those forgotten by vast systems of wealth,
With those taught to ignore their glory after abuse.
You bring sacred presence where there is forgetfulness.
And so, today, we take a moment in our hearts to consider those in our city we so easily ignore.

Christ of solidarity,
Stretch our compassion.

Spirit of wisdom —
You are present in all of life,
With the penitent wrongdoer,
With the healing survivor,
With the person contemplating a terrible mistake.
You bring beginnings out of endings.
And so, today, we take a moment in our hearts to consider how we can move towards what’s good and true.

Spirit of wisdom,
Draw near.
