Session 1
IN THIS LESSON
This session emphasizes the diversity of perspectives and interpretive traditions within Christianity. The course aims to deepen our understanding of our personal interpretive lenses.
The session covers the historical development of the Bible, the diversity of gospel perspectives, and the dynamic, iterative process of scripture’s compilation. It examines four key interpretive lenses—literal, allegorical, moral, and mystical—and how these shape understanding.
Participants reflect on their experiences with scripture and explore how life circumstances influence interpretation. The session highlights the unique viewpoints of each gospel writer, from Mark’s action-driven narrative to John’s cosmic portrayal of Jesus as the divine Logos. It invites participants to embrace the creativity and richness of scripture, fostering a Jesus-centered approach to faith and spiritual growth.
