Lesson 4: The ten plagues.
Passage: Exodus 7:1-11:10 - When Pharaoh refuses to listen to Moses and Aaron, who told him to let the Israelite people go free, God begins to send plagues on Egypt, ten in total. First, God turns the Nile river into blood, then God sends frogs, followed by gnats, flies, livestock pestilence, boils, hail, locusts, and darkness. The final plague is the death of all the firstborn sons in Egypt, both humans and animals.
Big Idea: God always keeps promises.

Preliminary Discussion — Bible Story Leader
Today is week 4 of the story of Moses and the Israelites in Egypt.
Can anyone remember what are some things that have happened in the story so far?
Where was Moses born? How did he end up living in the palace of Pharaoh?
What was the situation of the Israelites living in Egypt? What did Moses do about it when he saw how his people were being treated? What happened to him next?
How did God end up appearing to Moses in Midian? What did God tell him to do?
So, where we left off in the story, Moses was back in Egypt and he and his brother Aaron were trying to tell Pharaoh to let the people go. Instead, Pharoah started to make life harder for the Israelite. Let’s watch our video for today to find out what happens next…

“Dear God, thank you for the story we’ve been learning about Moses and the Exodus, and how it teaches us about your faithfulness and love for your people. How you would stop at nothing to rescue the Israelites when they were slaves in Egypt, and how you love us just as much too. Please help us to remember that you are with us, even in our darkest times and that you hear us when we cry out to you. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”
