RESPONSIVE PRAYER
Written by Yelena Pakhomova
References to Psalm 62, 63, Isa 55:1-2., John 10:1-18, Ephesians 3:20.
On this third Sunday of Lent, we continue our worship by joining in responsive prayer.
The alternating pattern of this liturgical practice encourages us to respond to God’s grace in our lives and to participate in the work God is doing in and through us.
Leader:
Creator-God, you are the source of life.
All power belongs to you and with you is unfailing love.
We confess that with our whole being we thirst for you
And yet we spend ourselves on what does not satisfy.
We need you, Lord more than we can imagine.
All:
Walk with us, Lord, the journey is long.
Root us in your love and deliver us from fear.
Leader:
Jesus, Good Shepherd, you show us that
True power always chooses the way of self-giving love.
Your grace finds us when we are lost and catches us when we fall.
You want us to have life and have it to the full,
And we trust you to form us into people you want us to be.
All:
Walk with us, Lord, the journey is long.
Root us in your love and deliver us from fear.
Leader:
Spirit of the Living God, deeply and gently at work within us.
Sustain us as we journey to the cross in this season of Lent.
Teach us to seek justice and to work with you for the healing of the world.
Enable us to live out of grace we have received.
And in everything we do, may we celebrate your goodness.
All:
Walk with us, Lord, the journey is long.
Root us in your love and deliver us from fear.
In the strong name of the risen Christ we pray.
Amen.
