RESPONSIVE READING
Written by Scott Wall

In just a moment, as part of our liturgy, I invite you to participate in a responsive reading.
Its lines centre us on the words of Jesus we’re looking at this fall.
And acknowledge the difficulty and hope we stand with today.

Leader :
We are blessed - and your goodness endures.
In our moments of weakness —
When our strength is gone
When we can do nothing to change our situation.
In our grief — Those moments when we are lost -
When we can’t imagine a way forward.

All:
We are blessed - and your goodness endures.

Leader:
When we choose to be gentle —
Those moments when we are pushed aside
When we choose tenderness instead of dominance
When we choose to be dissatisfied —
Those moments we long for justice to prevail
When our souls thirst for what is right.

All :
We are blessed - and your goodness endures.

Leader:
When we are single minded —
Our intentions honest, and selfless, and true.
When we work to preserve peace - and create peace. In our solitude
Those moments when we stand alone.
When others reject, ignore, or attack our efforts to live in Grace.

All:
We are blessed - and your goodness endures.

Leader:
Creating - Redeeming - Sustaining God
We are blessed - and your goodness endures.
Amen
