REFLECTIVE PRAYER: VISION
Written by Bobbi Salkeld

If you’re like me, you spend a lot of time looking at images of other people’s lives. Maybe it’s on Instagram or Facebook, or it’s simply what we notice when we watch the people around us live their lives.

And before we know it, we’ve got more visions of others in our minds and imaginations than we have of ourselves.

Today is vision Sunday and while we consider the Easter vision of resurrection and the vision for our Commons community, let’s pause for a moment to consider the vision we have for our own lives.

Contemplating vision is a mix of reflection, imagination, and prayer.

So I invite you to consider one aspect from your life - your key relationship, your work, your understanding of yourself, and ask: what is God giving me a vision for in this part of my life?

Maybe it’s a vision for patience and forgiveness in relationships.
Maybe it’s a vision for endurance and creativity in your work.
Maybe it’s a vision for getting help and saying “no” in your self-care.

Vision comes before action.
And God is with us in the stillness and in the stirring.

I’ll give you some time to reflect on personal vision, maybe jot something down in your journal, and then I’ll close with a short prayer.

Loving God,
You created the world and everything in it
You know our stories, our hopes, and our frustrations
In this moment of reflecting on vision in our lives, and how you are present, may we trust that you are with us
And all things find their belonging in you, AMEN.
