COMMUNITY PRAYER
Written By Bobbi Salkeld

This week we begin our Lent journey with Ash Wednesday. Lent is a season that invites us into simplicity, coming clean, and starting new. For our Community Prayer today, we hold the people and places in our lives and the world in need of Lenten renewal.

Let us pray.

God of all seasons –
Together, we centre our hearts on simplicity
For those who feel cluttered in minds and hearts
For those who are tangled-up in responsibilities and stress
For those who are fighting complex systems and injustice
We pray,
May our journey this Lent bring stillness and self-emptying
So we may be filled with grace

Together, we centre our hearts on coming clean
For those who hold shame and confusion in secret places
For those who are owning hard parts of their stories and practicing real apologies
For those who are in need of honest reflection and a compassionate companion
We pray,
May our journey this Lent bring cleansing and refreshment
So we may be filled with grace

Together, we centre our hearts on starting new
For those who are tired and sore in body and mind
For those who aren’t sure if a terrible time will ever end
For those who are holding back and feeling afraid for the future
We pray,
May our journey this Lent bring renewal and the springtime buds of new life
So we may be filled with grace

AMEN
