PRAYER FOR PEACE & JUSTICE

As followers of Jesus, we are invited to pay attention to the pain in the world and to work for a world made new.

The stories we tell can make safer spaces for others.
The money we spend can consider the health of creation.
The people we see, with all their differences, can be icons of the divine.

Please join me in holding the places in our world that need peace and justice. Let us pray.

Loving God, you call all life into being.
The mountains, the oceans, the islands are yours.

For places of conflict –
In homes, countries, communities,
In hearts, relationships, families
May your peace come on earth.

For places of fear –
In attachments, desires, storms,
In politics, neighbourhoods, battlefields
May your peace come on earth.

For places of despair –
In violence, poverty, addiction,
In loneliness, grief, inequality
May your peace come on earth.

Spirit of the living God,
Teach us the compassion we see in Jesus
Show us the grace we find in your love
Expand our imagination for a just and loving world we pray,
