COMMUNITY PRAYER
By Larissa Amour

For those who can't find the words to express the deep needs of their heart,
Uncertain that words could ever fully capture the depths of their longings.

For those experiencing overwhelming and persistent scarcity,
Sensing lack in its many forms: employment, relationships, finances or support,
Unsure that asking for help will be met without judgment or prerequisites.

For those who’ve become so accustomed to loneliness,
Relying on hyper-independence when they could really use companionship.

Faithful God, give us the courage to trust in the ability of an empathetic and interceding community.

For those reluctant to share their stories,
Fearful that their experience is destined for the margins.

For those hesitant to listen to a strangers story,
Uncertain that they can carry yet another burden.

For tired bodies holding onto shame and disappointment,
Those feelings which keep us back from our truest self.

May we trust that in the openness found in listening and sharing,
We will discover profound love.

Faithful God, give us the courage to trust that opened hearts help us to know You fully.

For those holding differences of belief in family,
Or blame that breaks people apart.

For all the ways we build up walls to protect fragile spaces,
Limiting the depths in which we find our most meaningful relationships.

For those holding anger that blocks growth,
Or fear of those who look differently, love differently.

Faithful God give us the courage to trust in reimagined narratives.
Amen.
