EUCHARIST INVITATION
Written by Scott Wall

Since the very beginning, the Christian tradition has grounded itself in paradox.
That in death Christ inaugurated new life.
That in letting go we often find something more.
And, that ordinary things are the carriers of grace.

Today, in coming to the Eucharist table, we embrace the paradox of how the fruit of ordinary vine and field -
How ordinary space and time -
How these signal something of God’s generosity to us.

They remind us of all we receive that is unearned.
They remind us that Grace appears in the smallest of steps we take forward - in the moments we choose to open our hands.
They remind us that our faith is best embodied in a meal gratefully shared between friends.

See - before he died, Jesus gathered those he loved.
And after breaking some bread, he gave it to them — as a sign that he would lay his body down for them.
And pouring out some wine, he shared it with them — as a sign that he was offering them a new way to be human.

So as they came to the table, we do too.
Not because we are required, but because we’ve been invited.
We come, not because we have some special or exclusive status here…but because Christ has set a place for all.We come, each of us, in search of expansive welcome.
