REFLECTIVE PRAYER
Written by Scott Wall

Each year, the season of Lent offers us an opportunity.
Where - in its reordering, its taking up and its letting go -
We’re invited to see — our lives. our weakness. our mortality.
And our hope for what might lie beyond -
To see it all in new ways.

So as we begin, I invite you into a reflective prayer of awareness.
A few moments offered to first take in your life…
And then, to push out into it…more open to all these next few weeks will bring.

Let us pray.
God of all life’s seasons -
We begin this Lent with a simple question -
What do I see?Where am I fatigued? distracted? over-committed?
Where are others around me struggling? Where can I see others’ insecurities?
And in the world — where is peace lacking? Where are people advocating for what’s right?

And we ask,
In our seeing - God of all - let us see as you do.
Taking life in with compassion, courage, and endurance.

God of all life’s seasons -
We step out into this Lent with a simple question - What hope do I hold? Where am I longing for change? Waiting for what’s next? Where am I currently supporting others? Where could I be a gracious presence?

And in your world — where could my voice be heard? What cause could I join where I sense potential?

In our hoping - God of all - let us hope as you do.
Moving out into Lenten life with clarity, intention, and vulnerability.

We ask in the name of Christ, Amen.
