ALL SAINT DAY PRAYER

Loving God - Above and in and surrounding space and time -
in prayer we lay claim to all that Grace provides,
in our remembering we choose to hold mystery and matter.
Where today, with sickness, pain, and mortal limits all around us -
carried in our bodies…or by those we love,
we trust that we meet your faithfulness -
our lives and loss and aching ever held.
In death brought home to peace and rest -
Living on in Light and memory.

So, we pause now
letting faces come to mind -
of those we’ve loved, we’ve known, we’ve touched.
Trusting that you keep them still.
Even as you shelter our hearts in the grief and loneliness we feel -
we join the chorus of those we’ve lost, in sweet refrain.
In death brought home to peace and rest -
Living on in Light and memory.

And today, we look back across history -
to the beginnings of our faith, and further still -
to our saintly siblings who traced their humble way.
Finding that their living still illuminates ours -
with hope born from their remarkable lives - and simple ones -
saints known, saints celebrated, saints nameless to all but you.
With them, we ask, let us be found -
In death brought home to peace and rest -
Living on in Light and memory.
