PRAYER FOR KIDS & YOUTH
Written by Ryan Petkau & Larissa Amour

With the turn of a new season - we acknowledge that kids and youth have been dealing with especially challenging and unique circumstances this past year and a half. From missed graduations and friends to changes in schedule and routine to dealing with the loss of life as you knew it. So many of your “whys” and “hows” and “whens” have been left unanswered or brushed off. We’re proud of you for asking these big questions and waiting so patiently for answers - whenever they come.

And here you are now, at the end of the school year! We want to take the time to uplift you as a community - to let you know that you are not alone. You are surrounded by a community that cares for you, and loved by God without limits.

Commons today let's lift up our young people in prayer:

Beloved kids and youth,
For all the things that you’ve overcome:
The delayed “firsts” and all the times you might’ve said “it wasn't supposed to be like this.”
Missed goodbyes and friendships that faded by distance.
Celebrations, birthdays and parties that you weren't able to share with all the people you love.

Together we pray, God keep these young minds and spirits near.

Cherished kids and youth,
We thank you for all the blessings you bring to our community,
Curious minds asking good questions,
Unburdened souls that teach us to embrace the moment,
Ambitious hope and dreams that remind us to push beyond our own expectations

Together we pray, God keep these young minds and spirits near.

Treasured kids and youth,
For all the good things to come,
Making memories better than you could’ve imagined
Finding freedom in play and belly-aching laughs
And new opportunities to be with the people you love

Together we pray, God keep these young minds and spirits near.

Kids and youth, together as a community we acknowledge everything that you’ve been through and we bless you as you grow and change and learn new things. We value your presence in our community and look forward with hope to the ways you will change the world. In the name of Christ who loves and knows you.

Amen.
