A PRAYER FOR FRESH STARTS
Written by Yelena Pakhomova
One of the gifts of the Easter season is that it encourages us to take our time with resurrection.
In Christ's resurrection, God commits to the renewal of all things.
And every year, Easter is our reminder that resurrection is not an event of the past.
The same God is tending to new life within us today.
New beginnings are possible, and we have what we need for them.
So as part of our worship today, would you join me in prayer for the new beginnings that are on our hearts this season.
Let us pray.
God of all hope,
Our new beginnings come with a lot of emotion.
We are excited about the change we want to make.
We are anxious about not being able to see it through.
We are afraid of failure, of disappointment, of the unknown.
Would your Spirit of comfort enter all our emotions
and renew our imagination for what is possible.
Creator of all life,
Our new beginnings come waiting for space and time to grow.
So as we notice and tend to the new life in us, we ask that
in our love for a quick fix, you will grant us patience,
in our busy schedules, you will help us choose what matters,
in our effort, you will give us a deep sense of fulfillment
and renew our imagination for what is possible.
Source of all joy,
As we welcome our fresh starts,
bless the new narratives we're writing with our relationships,
bless the new stories we're creating with our work,
bless our resolve to respond to what makes us come alive,
and renew our imagination for what is possible.
Amen.
