EUCHARIST INVITATION
Written by Jeremy Duncan

As we continue in worship today we want to invite you to the table of christ
We have started this year together talking about curiosity and the eucharist table is a curious place
where we are — all of us — invited

Invited to bring our full selves
Invited to bring our complete stories
Invited to bring all that makes us worth being curious about

And here we share — one meal— across one table —
With those we may have thought we shared every little with

Because this is the beautiful of the meal Christ offers us
It’s not the bread or the wine
It’s way that Christ offers himself as the connection point for all humanity

On the night that Jesus was betrayed — he took bread and he took wine and said
this is my body — this is my blood
Offered that you might come and sit with each other in remembrance of movement God made toward you

And so we invite you today
To come
Not because you must
but because you may;

to come to this table to testify - not that you are righteous,
but that you desire to love our Lord Christ Jesus

to come to this table not because you are strong,
but precisely because you are weak;

not because you have any claim on the grace of God,
but because in your frailty you stand in constant need of new breath and life to come and find you

I invite you to come today - not to proclaim an opinion or belief or doctrine
but simply to welcome God’s presence
and to experience God’s Spirit this day

All are welcome at the table
