A BLESSING FOR THE NEW YEAR
By Bobbi Salkeld

At the beginning of a New Year, we know there is so much before us that is unknown: challenges, big feelings, and what is beyond our control.

Maybe a question about the year ahead comes to mind for you.

So we pray —

Maker who is always before us:
root us in right relationships,
connect us with works of compassion,
and give shape to our contemplation
until joy is our shared space.

On the first day of a New Year, there is inevitable change ahead for us: the state of our bodies, relationships, and the world.

Maybe some tension or fear comes to mind for you.

And so we pray —

Christ who walks among us:
root us in right relationships,
connect us with works of compassion,
and give shape to our contemplation
until joy is our shared space.

On the first day of a New Year, it is bold to name what we hope for: shared humility, wholeness, and creativity in our lives.

Maybe longing or something you are working for is in focus for you.

Together we pray —

Spirit who lives within us:
root us in right relationships,
connect us with works of compassion,
and give shape to our contemplation
until joy is our shared space.
Amen.
