PRAYER FOR OURSELVES, PRAYER FOR OTHERS

Let us pray for ourselves – 

We name the ways we do harm: 
We over-consume
We ignore winter’s invitation to wait, to renew, to rest 
Creator, show grace

We hold space for what we do not perceive: 
We are nervous of change
We are afraid of the unknown
Christ, show grace

We give ourselves to the rhythms of love:
We brave reflection on our feelings
We pay attention to our body’s wisdom 
Spirit, show grace
And let us show grace to ourselves 

Let us pray for others – 

We name the ways others have done harm:
They take too much 
They refuse to imagine what could be possible
Creator, show grace

We hold space for what others do not perceive: 
They do not see what we see 
They may not know how much they hurt us 
Christ, show grace

We imagine others in the rhythms of love:
They need to be safe 
They are worthy of belonging
Spirit, show grace
And let us show grace to others 
Amen.
