SEASON OF EPIPHANY PRAYER
Written by Scott Wall

This past week we entered the season of Epiphany -
A time each year where we join the broader Church in reminding ourselves to be present.
Because Epiphany takes us beyond the Christmas stories of an infant Christ -
And into a world full of divine wonder.
Into a world growing through the changes that God so generously works in it.
To find, to cherish, and to tell a story of the divine emerging from all kinds of places.

And while this is a season of anticipation,
It doesn’t back down from our struggle, or from the ways we feel our future is obscured.

Which is why today I invite you to join me in a prayer of awareness.
A prayer for open eyes, and hearts, and hands —

Join me now

Today we turn to face Epiphany light
With eyes that see new opportunity ahead
With eyes that have to fight to look forward and not behind
With eyes you’ve made to see connection and beauty everywhere
And we pray, let our eyes be open to the surprising ways you guide and you delight.

Today we turn toward all change.
With hearts heavy with loss and grief.
With hearts that long to shift and grow, but don’t know how.
With hearts searching for friendship - and embrace
And we pray, let our hearts be open to the surprising ways you guide and you delight.

Today we turn and lean into your world
With hands that hold safe space for others
With hands tired from service, care, and advocacy these past two years.
With hands ready to create, to share, and to heal.
And we pray, let our hands be open to the surprising ways you guide and you delight.
Amen.
