    REFLECTIVE PRAYER
    Written by Jeremy Duncan

Each year, the season of Lent offers us an opportunity.

Where - in its reordering, its taking up and its letting go -

We are invited to see — our lives, our weakness and our mortality—

But also our hope for what might lie beyond -

And to see it all in new ways.

And so we invite you into a reflective prayer of awareness.

A few moments offered to first— take in our lives…

And then, to push out— into a more open imagination for all these next steps toward Easter

    Let us pray.

God of all life’s seasons -

We begin this Lent with a series of simple questions -

What do I see? Where am I fatigued? distracted? over-committed?

Where are others around me struggling? Where can I see others’ insecurities?

where is peace lacking? And where are others advocating for what is right?

    [pause]

God of all life’s seasons -

We step out into this Lent with a series simple questions -

    What hope do I hold?

Where am I longing for change or waiting for what’s next?

Where am I currently supporting others? Where could I be a gracious and needed presence?

    [pause]

God of all life’s seasons - where could my voice be heard in new ways?

What cause could I join? Where do I sense potential and goodness?

    [pause]

God of all life’s seasons -

In all of our questions - let us hope as you do.

Moving out into Lenten life with clarity, intention, and vulnerability.

Mark us not just with sorrow, but with hope.

Not just with frailty, but with grace.

Not just with repentance, but with the promise of renewal.

    Amen.
