REFLECTIVE PRAYER
Written by Scott Wall

Loving God -
Creator, Friend, and Inspiration always
Today we approach this moment with our hearts.
Some of us with warmth and awareness - some of us maybe heavy and a little unsure of how to feel our way forward as we pray.

And from wherever we are we ask—
Where do I sense the Divine at work in me?
How could I be more present to the ways I’m stretching toward love, and hope, and trust?

Today we approach this prayer with our minds.
We acknowledge that we see some things clearly, while others we are less sure about.
We know that we long for truthful thoughts, and we also know that sometimes we return unhealthy and toxic ones.

And from wherever we are we ask—
Where do I sense my beliefs and my convictions changing?
What thoughts in me need to go?
What new truth do I need to open to?

Today we come to prayer with our bodies.
We confess that our prayers are weak sometimes because we don’t stop moving.
We admit that sometimes our prayers are weak because we don’t see our work and our effort as prayer.

And from wherever we are we ask—
Where do I need to choose to be still?
And, where can I move toward action, lending my hands and body to a practice of living that make the world more whole?

These things we offer - heart, mind, and body.
Trusting that you - Gracious God - hold them now.
Amen
