The Story David

Few characters rival David in the Hebrew bible’s long list of heroes.

He rises from obscurity, subdues Israel’s enemies, survives death threats, and eventually takes the throne. Along the way, the ancient authors encourage us to support this guy. He’s the underdog, overlooked, and the one God chooses.

Which is what makes David’s story simultaneously so interesting and confounding.
We want him to win, but questions emerge as we watch him become king.
